Wedding Shoes....

Since we do so many elopements and Intimate Texas weddings, I thought it would be fun to start taking pictures of the fun and colorful wedding shoes the girls and sometimes guys wear.  I am amazed at how creative some folks can be with the colors they choose or style they like.  After doing this for a while, I decided to start a board on my Pinterest page, I have been so blown away by how many of those wedding shoe pics have been re-pinned by folks over the last few months.  I have lost count if the tall white ones or the sparkly red ones have taken first place. But, matter not, it has been a fun board to pin to and I will continue to do so.  If you haven't looked out our Pinterest page, please do so, we would love for you to follow us there too.  So until another time, hope this helps in your search for the perfect pair of wedding shoes.

Deb, enjoy!!

Butterflies in my Garden

With Spring finally arriving here in the Texas Hill country, I am so looking forward to butterflies coming too.  Since I have 4 outside cats, it's a little hard for me to feed the birds, you know what I mean! So, I choose to feed the butterflies and provide for their safe habitat to raise the babies here.
I started planting flowers and native plants that they love and it is starting to pay off.  There are extensive plant list so I won't bother you with listing them here.  I do want to share a fun idea for making nectar feeders for them.

Our guest drink a lot of wine here and so we are always looking for ideas to use those bottles so they don't go in the trash.  So, I picked a favorite blue one, hit the junk stores  and came up with some cheap pieces of glass to add color and texture for these little feeders.  Once I decided on which ones to put together, I then used silicone caulk since it dries clear and is water proof and just started building from the bottom up.  Then you take a simple nylon kitchen scrubby and place in the bowl on the top and keep nectar in it for them.   My research said 1 part sugar to 10 parts water and they will feed all summer.  So here is my first little creation and we shall see how it all goes. Try your hand at it, it's a great kids project too. For now, happy gardening and my your flowers ever bloom. enjoy!

Herbs for Breakfast

I love using fresh herbs in breakfast dishes.  There are so many ways you can add a great splash of flavor to your breakfast by using fresh or dried herbs.  I have 3 favorite herbs to cook with, rosemary, basil and mints.  I grow rosemary all over our yard so I have plenty to use year round, my basil is grown in the veggie garden and only last till cold weather hits and I have about 10 different varieties of mints that grow in pots and most of them last year round also.
I have to admit, I don't follow recipes much, but I learned to follow my nose.  I learned that if you combine two herbs by smelling them together, that if it is a good smell, it will be a good taste. I love to combine citrus, dried or fresh zest with many herbs for breakfast also.   I have a basic biscuit recipe that makes super fluffy ones, and I love to mix and match different herbs in them to add flavor to enhance the smell, sight and taste of these biscuits.
I also love to add herbs to eggs, one of my favorites is Rosemary cream cheese eggs, that I came up with when we first opened the b&b.  Simply add fresh snipped rosemary to the eggs and a few dollops of cream cheese right at the end and keep them at a soft scramble, they melt in your mouth.
If you love to cook and can have a few herb plants, then please try
your hand at cooking with herbs in your breakfast.  If you come up with a good combination, please share with me. Happy cooking.

enjoy, Deb

We have been working for several weeks on creating a beautiful new wedding venue for our small intimate weddings and elopements.  The Moon Gate Wedding garden is now complete and has turned out to be enchanting.  The beautiful native Texas rocks are layed in place to create a circle which has many traditional wedding meanings. It is located on a more secluded area of our 20 acres and the setting makes you think you are off in a wooded wonderland.  What could be more magical for your wedding?
